The Drew County Sheriff's Department arrested Arthur Lee Newton,a former Arkansas State Trooper, age 65 of Monticello, on charges of sexual assault second degree on August 2. The investigation is on going; however, he is believed to have had inappropriate contact with a minor. Newton is being held in the Drew County Detention Facility on a $100,000 commercial bond.
