Family Dog Shot - Case Still Under Investigation

03/19/2010

Drew County Sheriff Deputies received a report of a dog that had shot in an area behind the Monticello Country Club. A nearby resident found the dog while driving a golf cart. It appears that the dog had been shot in the chest area and had been dead for several days. The dog, a chocolate Labrador Retriever named Bear, belonged to Steve Ross, a resident of Country Club Lane.

Because the dog had been shot, Sheriff Gober had the dog taken to the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission to be x-rayed and autopsied. The case is still under investigation and anyone with any information should contact the Drew County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff Gober wants the citizens of Drew County to know that animal cruelty is a serious crime and will not be tolerated.
