Man Arrested on Drug Charges at Wilmar Residence

On August 12 members of the Drew County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant of a residence located at 124 Hart Avenue in Wilmar. During the search, officials seized a small quantity of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and weight scales. The occupant of the home, Samuel Durden, age 40, was arrested and placed in the Drew County Detention Facility. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession within proximity of certain facilities. The facility would be the Greater Shady Grove AME Church located on South Seventh Street.

Durden was released on August 13 on his own recognizance by District Judge Ken Harper.
