On February 7, 2017 the Drew County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting that Caleb Hall had busted out the windows of his wife’s car and was currently fighting her and threatening to kill her.

The caller who was identified as the grandfather of Hall stated that he was following the vehicle occupied by Hall and his wife and stated that Hall was striking her while traveling down the road. The caller requested the assistance of law enforcement in which was dispatched to the area of Lacey.

While in route to the call of the domestic disturbance it was relayed to authorities that immediate assistance was need on Highway 133 in Lacey that the incident was now stationary on the side of the roadway. Just moments after the call came in Sgt. A.C. Simpson arrived on scene and Hall began to run around the vehicle on scene which belonged to his grandfather. Sgt. Simpson ordered him to stop but Hall refused and proceeded to get into the driver's side of the vehicle and attempt to drive off. The grandfather of Hall attempted to get Hall to get out of the truck and to obey law enforcement but Hall refused and proceed to drive off with his grandfather being drug down the highway for approximately 35 yards. When his grandfather could no longer hang on he fell onto the roadway and the rear of driver side tire ran over the legs of the grandfather.

Hall then jumped in the back of the truck and proceeded to try and get inside the cab area of the vehicle. At this point the grandfather stopped the truck on the side of the highway.

A search for Hall was conducted and while doing so it was discovered that Hall had abandoned the truck and stole a relatives ATV. It was disclosed to officers that a pistol was believed to have been taken out of the truck by Hall.
