08/24/2012

A Drew County Sheriff’s Deputy received a call from Jerry Beckham stating that he noticed that his wallet was missing after returning from a trip to the Save-A-Lot grocery store on Saturday, August 18th. Authorities contacted Save-A-Lot management who were able to locate Mr. Beckham on their security video checking out at the store where he accidently left his wallet. A few minutes after Mr. Beckham left, the video showed Regina Donley, age 47 of Monticello, allegedly placing Mr. Beckham’s wallet in her purse. She did not attempt to return the wallet or contact the owner.

Donley was arrested by the Drew County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, August 22nd, after a warrant was issued for her arrest for theft of property. After investigators interviewed Donley a search warrant was issued for her residence where they found what remained of the money from the wallet. She allegedly told deputies that she disposed of the wallet and contents at Jenkins Carwash.

Donley was taken for a first appearance where she was given a $3,000 bond. She bonded out of jail on August 23rd.
