Man Arrested For Stealing From Employer

The Drew County Sheriff’s Department arrested William Leeper, age 33 of Monticello, on Tuesday, June 12th, on charges of theft of $1,000 or greater following an investigation into his involvement of money and items allegedly being stolen from JP’s Liquor store. Leeper was an employee at the store during the time money and items came up missing. He was taken for a first appearance before District Court Judge Ken Harper on June 13th where he was issued a bond of $2,500. He bonded out of jail that same day. Leeper is also a suspect in the breaking and entering of JP’s Liquor where a person entered the building through the roof and took merchandise from the cooler.
