Drew County Sheriff's Department Arrests Level Four Sex Offender

04/20/2012

According to Sheriff Mark Gober, on Tuesday, April 17th, the Drew County Sheriff’s Department interviewed Randy J. Milburn, age 30 of Wilmar, due to allegations of inappropriate contact with a 12 year old female. After a lengthy interview, Milburn was arrested and charged with sexual indecency with a child and sexual assault second degree. He was taken for a first appearance before District Judge Ken Harper on Thursday, April 19th, where Sheriff Gober recommended a $200,000 bond be set for Milburn.

Milburn is believed to have had contact with the 12 year old victim while sleeping in the same bed with her. The child and her mother had been visitors to the home.

Milburn, a level four registered sex offender, has a criminal history dating back eleven years. In 2001 Milburn was convicted of criminal mischief and theft of property in Drew County; in 2003, in Bradley County, he was sentenced to 12 months in jail on charges of false imprisonment of a 7 year old female; and in 2005, in Bradley County, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of kidnapping and aggravated assault on a 10 year old female. Milburn served just over 5 years of his last sentence before being released on supervised parole.

There are four levels of classification of sex offenders. The level four sex offender is considered a sexual violent predator. At this time, Milburn is the only level four sex offender registered in Drew County and the Monticello area.

Gober stated that “The Drew County Sheriff’s Department and many citizens of the community will take comfort knowing that Milburn is behind bars and will not be able to reoffend.”

Attempts are being made to contact the victim’s guardian.
