On August 18 at approximately 11:00 PM, Drew County Sheriff’s Department deputies were dispatched to a one vehicle accident on Rose Hill Cut-Off Road located north of Monticello. Deputies observed a silver car that had struck a light pole head-on. The driver, Samantha Greer, age 38 of Monticello, told a deputy that she had fallen asleep and hit the pole.

After an investigation, Greer was charged with driving while intoxicated (drugs), failure to control a vehicle, no insurance, and possession of a controlled substance.
